DHY is a Registered School through the Yoga Alliance, and this teacher training will provide you with the 200 hours of essential training required to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200). You’ll not only leave our program prepared to teach, but you’ll have gained invaluable insight into your own self knowledge. Through this 200-Hour program, you will learn to identify the blockages in your life and gain the tools and power to become your most influential self; both on and off the mat.
As a 200-Hour teacher trainee, you will learn the spiritual, energetic, and physical connections and implications of yoga, as well as the importance of living as a genuine individual. This program is appropriate for practitioners of every level, as well as those who simply wish to deepen their own understanding of yoga.
The 200-Hour Dana Hot Yoga training begins in March and is designed to prepare you to be a confident, effective yoga instructor AND individual. Each of the 8 weekend workshops in our series covers a different unit of study and includes asana, lecture, group discussion, and small-group exercises.
This training will be directed by Lisa Mitchell and Rachel Hoppenstein. Dana Hot Yoga was awarded "Best Hot Yoga" in 2009 by Main Line Today Magazine. Dana Hot Yoga was voted in the top five Yoga Studios in Philadelphia 2009 and 2010 by Philly Hot List, and Dana Hot Yoga was listed in Philadelphia Magazine in the "Whats Hot about the Main Line " article in 2011.
In addition, Lisa Mitchell has a doctorate degree in Education, and has conducted research using Yoga as a tool for increased social reciprocity in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She developed a system of therapy based on the principles of yoga, called Body Centered Therapy, and has published articles about her work. Lisa Mitchell's teaching repertoire spans from local elementary schools to esteemed Universities. Despite all her genres of teaching, Lisa prefers teaching and sharing yoga the most.
Rachel Hoppenstein has a passion for anatomy and alignment. She continues to explore these elements through yoga and is preparing for furthering learning in occupational therapy. In addition, Rachel has a degree in fine arts, with an emphasis on painting. Rachel conducts a "peak pose" style of class, and is stellar at building her students into amazing new places.
This teacher training will give our students a firm foundation in designing fun and challenging classes that are intuitive, yet intelligent.
